Plex plugin install for TrueNAS 12

TrueNAS Core 12 Plex Setup & ACL Permission Tutorial on a 144 TB Server - Lawrence Systems or TrueNAS Core 12 Plex Plugin Install and Setup - Everything Smart Home

  1. Add media Dataset ESH tc-1:56
  2. Plugin Install via TrueNAS UI youtube tc-2:20 ESH tc-7:20
    • Choose pool in upper right
    • Use Plex Beta if you have Plex Pass, otherwise the other
    • Click Install
  3. Go MANAGE the Plex Server youtube tc-4:33
    • Login to server finish setup do not add libraries
    • Goto Pluggins and Stop Plex jail
  4. Create Plex user on TrueNAS for ACL configuration youtube tc-6:25
  5. Add plex user and group to ACL youtube tc-8:57
    • MediaVolume -> Media (DataSet) Edit ACL
    • Add ACL Item User
      • Who: User
      • User: plex
      • ACL Type: Allow
      • Permissions Type: Full Control
      • Flags Type: Basic
      • Flags: Inherit
    • Add ACL Item Group
      • Who: Group
      • User: plex
      • ACL Type: Allow
      • Permissions Type: Full Control
      • Flags Type: Basic
      • Flags: Inherit
    • Apply permissions recursively
  6. Create Windows (SMB) Share youtube tc-11:25
    • Add Share /mnt/ghPool/synctest
    • Edit Share ACL
      • Domain: SG
      • Name: ghadmin
      • Permission: FULL
      • Type: ALLOWED
    • Test SMB share by connecting and writing some new folders and files
  7. Add Share to plexServerCAT /mnt youtube tc-13:14 ESH tc-8:14
    • Stop Plex Plugin
    • Click on MOUNT POINTS
    • Add Mount Point
    • Source: /mnt/ghPool/synctest
    • Destination: /mnt/MediaVolume/iocage/jails/plexServerCAT/root/mnt/synctest
    • Save
    • Restsart Plex Plugin
  8. Add new share as Lib in Plex youtube tc-16:27
    • Web browse to :32400 and sign-in
    • CLick on + next to PLEXSERVERCAT
    • Add Other name: ghlearn Videos
    • Add Folder /mnt/synctest/ghlearnVideos
  9. Plex should auto scan and index youtube tc-20:10 X. tbd youtube tc- X. tbd youtube tc-

Post Plex Setup

  1. Go to Plex Settings -> Show Advanced (wrench in upper right) ESH tc-13:13
  2. General ESH tc-13:22
    • Change Name
    • Updates
    • Save Changes
  3. Library ESH tc-13:29
    • Scan my library automatically
    • Run a partial scan when changes are detected
    • Scan my library periodically
    • Save Changes
  4. Network ESH tc-13:40
    • Add local subnet so local resources are trusted
    • Save Changes
  5. Transcoder ESH tc-14:08
    • Set to adjust perf of server and clients
    • Save Changes
  6. DLNA ESH tc-14:22
    • Turn on if you need access by non-plex clients
    • Save Changes
  7. Online Media Sources ESH tc-
    • Disable if you don’t want this in your dashboards
